What are the health risks of being overweight?
The more overweight, the greater the risk for diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. The distribution of fat in the body plays an important role in this. The pear type with bacon on the hips, buttocks and thighs is apparently less susceptible. The apple type, in which the fat collects in and around the stomach, is much more at risk. It mainly affects men – but also older women.
