So far there is neither vaccination protection nor effective drugs against the coronavirus. It is all the more important to actively prevent a corona infection and to protect yourself as well as possible. A strong immune system is helpful here. Because the better our defenses, the easier it is to stay healthy.


Which is good for the immune system now?
The severity of a corona infection depends very much on the immune system. We can ensure that we eat a healthy and balanced diet, drink a lot, get enough sleep, and try to keep stress away from us. And what is of course extremely important, physical exercise, going outside, breathing fresh air, leading a life that is as relaxed as possible and bringing a bit of humor and joy into everyday life.

Exercise boosts the immune system

The current ban on contact is of course a challenge, but even in this situation we should go outside the door and go for a walk, do some endurance sport or take the dog to the door. Any endurance sports strengthen the heart and the immune system. That you do not overexert yourself, otherwise the opposite effect can occur.
Avoid stress and promote relaxation
Restful sleep is of central importance for a functioning immune system, says the internist. Lack of sleep weakens the immune system and promotes the release of stress hormones. The susceptibility to infection increases. Therefore: sleep is often the best medicine!
The coronavirus
The virus can be particularly dangerous for weak groups of people such as people with previous illnesses or the elderly. It is transmitted through droplet infection. People with previous illnesses, such as coronary heart disease or lung diseases such as chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, but also diabetes mellitus, chronic liver diseases, cancer and also people with a disorder of the immune system, are particularly at risk of developing a more severe course of this virus infection.
And further: The most common symptoms that are observed here in Germany are coughs, runny nose and fever. Other symptoms that can occur with corona infection are headache and body aches, sore throat, but nausea, diarrhea and vomiting have also been described.
