Low calorie diet is a diet set by doctors for patients obese. The daily intake is a formula composed of like drinks to smoothies (made with powder concentrate and water) that provide about 500 calories and all the vitamins and minerals needed. This diet has many risks.
A patient who drinks more formula than allowed can store too much iron and selenium. Also produces constipation, and may require an extra water and fiber (laxatives). The immune response may be affected. They also tend to form gallstones.
This diet should only apply to patients with a BMI over 30, and also requires regular consultation with your doctor. Can be very useful when carried out over a period of six to twelve weeks. As all diets of this kind, the metabolism decreases. After this diet is necessary to follow a light diet and exercise plan to avoid regaining weight.
